A Good Day

A little bit of fun goes a long way...

Today has been a pretty good day. We've had a good mix of work and fun and everyone is content. I've been thinking a little bit about what it is that makes a happy day for us. A happy day usually starts with some sort of progress on working around the house or errands or appointments, just basically running the household. The kids helping always makes this better. A happy day usually involves getting out of the house and exploring a little bit. Katelin and Seth usually get to do something that they want to do (ride bikes or paint or play on the playground) and I get to work on something fun too. We all have some down time (nap time) and when the day is over we've accomplished something, we've worked together, we've rested, we've eaten, and we've laughed and had some fun. The day doesn't have to be perfect. I usually don't accomplish everything I wanted, but if those things are in the mix, the day is usually a winner.

Of course, a baby who naps longer than 45 minutes at a time would also be a welcome addition to a happy day too! Here's hoping for tomorrow.
